Have you ever been in a slump? If you answered no, then you’re lying. We’ve all been in a slump at some point, and it can be hard to get out of. This is due to a lack of intentionality in your day-to-day life choices. Getting stuck going through the motions and making choices because they’re easy, even though they probably don’t align with your values or better your life. I have been guilty of this many times, but it is possible to stop the cycle.
Living Intentionally
Living intentionally means to make well thought out choices that positively affect your life based on your personal beliefs, values, and goals.
Get organized
I fall into a slump when I am unorganized. When I haven’t planned ahead, I start to slip into making choices because they’re fast and easy. This is why using a planner can be so essential for those of us who thrive when we’re organized! I designed my planner to include details I hadn’t seen in other planners but felt like they helped me stay organized.
You might be asking, how does simply staying organized lead to living intentionally? Staying organized and planning ahead may seem simple, but it can have a huge impact.
Here are a few examples of how staying organized can help you live intentionally:
- Making a meal plan for the week can prevent eating out. Make a grocery list and plan a day to go grocery shopping along with the meal plan.
- Having a budget and paying attention to what you are buying can help prevent impulsive purchases. Being organized with your finances helps you save money and who doesn’t want that?
- Keep track of what you need to do. Knowing when you have appointments, meetings, or other obligations prevents stress and anxiety.
Get clear on your values
Another big factor that can affect living intentionally is not being clear on what your beliefs, values, and goals are. When you aren’t actively living out your values you easily lose sight of what is important to you.
A good place to start is by sitting down and writing out a list of the things or ideas that are important to you. Then look at areas of your life that may be lacking these things. From there you can slowly adjust your routine and habits to reflect your beliefs and values.
It’s important to give yourself grace throughout this process and remember that it’s okay for your beliefs and values to change as you learn and grow!
